Maps

This Web site contains maps for portions of the Pacific Northwest Trail. Because they come from several different sources, they vary in format and size, depending on the geographical area they cover and how they were obtained or produced. We are slowly adding maps to this site, and hope to eventually be able to offer online maps for the entire trail. Click here to check the availability of other PNT Knechtel maps

The following maps were originally formatted for printing on 11" X 17" format paper at a 360dpi resolution. For viewing and printing these maps from the Web, we have reduced the resolution to 75 dpi so that most of the map is viewable in a browser window. Some of the very small details are necessarily lost during this process. You will need to scroll to see different portions of a map. If your printer can print on 11" X 17" paper, these low resolution images may be printable in this format, although the image quality is not high. These images are in GIF format.

Because our maps are formatted for printing on 11" X 17" paper, the proportions can cause problems when printed from a Web browser window to a printer with commonly used 8.5" x 11" paper. To address this problem, we have split each map into two sections. Each part will usually print acceptably on most home printers using 8.5" X 11" paper. The resulting two pages may then be trimmed and taped together to create a single map. However, we cannot guarantee that these images will print acceptably on all printers from any computer. Your software and printer will determine the quality and size of the images. Some users may want to reduce the margin settings in the printer setup window of their Web browser.
