Wolf Trails System – Trail Work Party

No prior trail stewardship experience required.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Join a professional trail crew for part of a day to learn the basics of trail stewardship and develop your “trail eyes”. Help PNTA safeguard trail users by lending a hand with clearing the understory around the new Lower Wolf parking lot, and where the trail crosses the highway. Help us preserve the outdoor experience by collecting litter.

Additional trail maintenance tasks may be implemented by trail crew leaders, who will provide training and supervision. Hand tools and personal protective equipment will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeve shirts.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
SWITMO (the Skagit Whatcom and Island County Trail Maintenance Organization)will once again lead volunteers in a day of work on National Trails Day. Folks will brush and logout the PNT/ Swift Creek Trail, beginning at the Swift Creek trailhead near Baker Hot Springs working north. Tread work and structure maintenance can happen as needed.The project is rated easy and will have options for all abilities. There may be opportunities to use crosscut saws, to develop trail scouting skills with the PNTA's “trail eyes” program, or to work with SWITMO volunteers to support the field work.Notes: No prior experience is required for this project. Volunteers must have a daypack, lunch and water. Refreshments will be served by SWITMO volunteers at the end of the day.
