Swift Creek Trail Backcountry Trip

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: PNTA Volunteers will help with brushing and treadwork on the Swift Creek Trail #607 between 4th of July Creek and the Lake Anne Trailhead. This rugged trail is part of the 1200 mile Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail and provides access to the Mt. Baker Wilderness and connects the Mt Baker Ski Area to Baker Lake to the south.  Volunteers will be camping just north of 4th of July Creek Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Local Back Country Horsemen volunteers will provide stock support and pack in tools and supplies to the worksite.The project is rated "moderate" due to the backcountry setting for the work party. The trailwork is relatively easy and suitable for beginners. Volunteers will need to hike several miles along the rugged Swift Creek Trail. Volunteers will need backpacking equipment and skills for backcountry camping for three nights. Wilderness regulations apply.

This is a 4-day, 3-night backpacking trip with that will start and finish at the Iron Gate Trailhead.The party will hike to Horseshoe Pass and begin logging out the PNT/Boundary Trail to the west around Loudon Lake. Volunteers will need backpacking equipment and skills for backcountry camping for three nights. Wilderness regulations apply.
