About PNTA
Our mission is to build and manage the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail (PNNST) and conserve the wild places that it traverses.
The PNNST — also known as the Pacific Northwest Trail (PNT) — is a ~1,250-mile non-motorized recreation trail running from the Continental Divide to the Pacific Ocean that crosses three national parks, seven national forests, two other national scenic trails and several mountain ranges. It was designated a national scenic trail by Congress under the National Trails System Act in 2009 with a vision to be “as much as possible a wilderness trail.” With the completion of the PNT Comprehensive Plan in December 2023, we are now in a critical period of growth as PNTA expands its impact.
To advance our mission, our dedicated team of staff leads (1) trail work and conservation, (2) advocacy, (3) public education, and (4) partnership and collaboration.
