Retro 1977 Janet and Rex Sweatshirt
$34.95
This 1977 design is perhaps the most famous of all. Worn by Janet Garner and Rex Bakel during their pioneering thru-hike of the PNT in 1977, this design was seen across the country in 1979, when their story of the first PNT thru-hike was on the cover of Backpacker Magazine.
The shirt was later immortalized in photos of the very first sign to be installed along the PNT that same year (a live edge slab pointing the way to the Continental Divide and Pacific Ocean, located at a road crossing in Copeland, Idaho).
These days, we consider the appropriate acronym for the Pacific Northwest Trail to be “PNT” (or “PNNST” is official settings), but early on “PWNT” was sometimes used. We kept this design true to the 1977 version.
