Project Description
Are you curious to learn how trails are made? Join us at the Fourth of July Ridge TR 307 for a fun and easy day of outdoor learning!
At this Trail Eyes 101 event volunteers will receive training in basic trail concepts and learn by doing. We will cover core safety principles for trail workers, introduce basic trail anatomy and mechanics, and demonstrate tread maintenance techniques.
Our outdoor classroom for the day will be located on the PNT, just a short drive from Tonasket. We will hike at a comfortable pace as far as 1.5 miles out, pausing to discuss what we see along the way. On the way back to the trailhead, we’ll do some light trail work and practice new skills.
Mount Bonaparte is in its third year of growth after the 2021 Walker-Spur fire. At this time, the expansive views from the mountain are spectacular, and the forest floor is lush with grasses, wildflowers, and conifer seedlings. Escape the valley heat and spend a day with us on the mountain, learning something new and marveling at the beauty of a forest’s rebirth.
No experience necessary; the PNTA provides tools and PPE. See Resources (below) for Frequently Asked Questions and daypack recommendations.
