Is Wolf System part of the PNT? Why this is a PNTA event location?
No: Newport’s Wolf trails are not part of the PNT. Nonetheless, PNTA crews have been working with the Forest Service— from 2018–2021— on projects to improve and maintain the system.
As the PNTA’s project period sunsets after 2021, the Wolf trails need volunteers from the community to adopt the system to share stewardship. 2021 is a great year to get involved with PNTA projects on the Wolf, to learn more about trail maintenance and recent accomplishments on the system, before joining the trails community to be a Wolf steward yourself.
