Project Description

Members of the Spokane Mountaineers are invited to join the PNTA for an exclusive group work party event.

We will begin our trip on Saturday morning (09:00) with a hands-on learning experience using crosscut saws* to clear the newest addition to the PNT at Historic Mill Pond, a scenic, low-elevation recreation area near Metaline Falls.

Then on Sunday and part of Monday, the Spokane Mountaineers crew will hone their trail skills while helping to maintain the Halliday Trail 522.

At the end of a rewarding day on trail, there will be opportunities to enjoy a relaxing evening at Sullivan Lake, sharing stories around the campfire while your PNTA crew leaders prepare dinner.

Halliday Trail was part of the original vision for the PNT and is technically still part of the designated route. By volunteering to restore the Halliday Trail, you will help provide critical access to the North Fork Sullivan Creek watershed. This will help PNTA backcountry trail crews gain access to the wilderness to take care of parts of the PNT later this summer.

*Note that the crosscut intro work party is open to other PNTA volunteers. No trail crew experience is necessary for this event: the PNTA provides tools, personal protective equipment, and training. Just bring yourself, your camp gear and daypack, and a thirst for a rewarding weekend on the trail!
