Project Description
The heat spell over the PNW has broken, and the cool mountain air is calling! Who wants to go for a hike or ride on Mount Bonaparte in the Okanogan Highlands east of Tonasket?
What if hiking or riding a trail could also be a form of community service? It can! Your day trip could help a trail crew restore Fourth of July Ridge TR 307!
PNTA crews serve trails for 7–10 days at a time. You can help them direct more time and energy to the work itself by helping to pack out gear or supplies from their worksite.
For this trip we need volunteers who are willing to hike in 3.75 miles on Mount Bonaparte (a roughly 2.25-hour hike one-way), and load their backpack with mostly empty food-storage canisters (approx. 3–5 lbs ea) that they would then carry back to the trailhead.
Ideally, folks would tie in with the crew sometime on Friday morning, August 2nd. However, if someone were available to fetch gear from the trail sometime Thursday and bring it back to the trailhead, we may be able to coordinate with on you that!
We could also use help carrying food supplies in at the start of the trip on Sunday morning, July 28th.
