Project Description
Are you interested in learning how trails are made? Join us at the lovely Snow Peak TR 010, just east of Republic, for a fun and easy day of outdoor learning.
At this Trail Eyes 101 event, volunteers will receive training in basic trail concepts and have many hands-on learning opportunities. We will cover core safety principles for trail workers, introduce basic trail anatomy and mechanics, and demonstrate tread maintenance techniques too.
There will be opportunities to enjoy a picnic lunch with splendid views of the Okanogan Highlands and the Cascade Mountains beyond.
After the event, if you feel inspired to complete the short hike up to the Kettle Crest, watch for splashes of color as wildflowers start to emerge, and listen for the eerie whistle if the wind through a stand of ghost trees burned by the 1988 White Mountain Fire.
No experience necessary; the PNTA provides tools and PPE. See Resources (below) for Frequently Asked Questions and daypack recommendations.
