PNT Maps for Mobile Devices

Turn your smartphone into a powerful navigation tool with the FarOut Guide to the Pacific Northwest Trail.

Since 2018, the PNTA has partnered with FarOut Guides to produce a smartphone hiking guide to the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail. The official hiking app of the Pacific Northwest Trail Association is available with the same features hikers have trusted from FarOut Guides (formerly Guthook Guides) to navigate six other National Scenic Trails since 2012.

The FarOut Guide to the Pacific Northwest Trail uses the GPS unit on your iPhone or Android device to create a powerful navigation tool. The official hiking guide app is revised annually to reflect the latest changes to the dynamic trail corridor of the PNT.

No technology can replace navigation skills. Carry the app and our free trail maps with you!

This hiking app has been designed to be used with our free, PNTA strip maps. Even experienced backpackers are surprised by how challenging it can be to follow the Pacific Northwest Trail. At this early stage of development, most of the PNT is not marked, and the correct combination of paths may not be obvious. In some areas, there may not be a clear path to follow.

The FarOut Guide is a great tool for exploring the PNT, but no technology can replace the route-finding and map-reading skills needed to travel the PNT from end-to-end. Learn why navigating the PNT may be different from other trails you have hiked before on our FAQ and Navigation webpages.
