Project Description
Are you interested in learning how trails are made? Join us at the Sherman TR 012, for a fun and easy day of outdoor learning.
At this Trail Eyes 101 event, volunteers will receive training in basic trail concepts and have many hands-on learning opportunities. We will cover core safety principles for trail workers, introduce basic trail anatomy and mechanics, and demonstrate tread maintenance techniques too.
Our outdoor classroom for the day will be located a short drive from Republic on a feeder trail to the PNT. We will move at a comfortable pace to reach the Kettle Crest in 1.3 miles, pausing to discuss what we see along the way. On the way back to the trailhead, we’ll do some light trail work and practice some new skills.
This is the one of the shortest hikes up to the crest of the gorgeous Kettle River Range. We’ll be sure to take time to enjoy the day strolling beneath the trees, bathing in the fresh forest air that babbles down mountain streams, and soaking in the first days of summer.
No experience necessary; the PNTA provides tools and PPE. See Resources (below) for Frequently Asked Questions and daypack recommendations.
